I grew up in the Northwest and love the beauty, the people and the opportunities that Oregon provides. I have strong political interests in healthcare, sustainable growth, and education.
As a public health nurse for many years, I am strongly advocating for health care reform that is affordable and accessible. Every child in Oregon deserves proper medical care, and no parent should have to worry that paying for a child’s hospital visits or doctors’ appointments will push them to the brink of bankruptcy. Every hardworking Oregonian deserves a prescription drug plan that is affordable, and not a windfall for pharmaceutical companies.
As a former school board member and mother of two children who went through our public schools, I understand the strengths and weaknesses of our public education system. I will continue to support legislation that improves school efficiency and keeps money in the classroom. No child in Oregon should be denied the opportunity for success as a result of increased class sizes, shortened school years, administrative waste, or unsafe neighborhoods.
Oregon families are best served when their voice can be heard in state government, and when safeguards exist to ensure public money is being spent wisely. This legislative session I will bring my committee hearings outside the Capitol to towns across the state. I support a strong ethics package to reduce lobbyist influence, establishing a rainy day fund to protect vital services during downturns, and establishing an audit function within the legislative branch.
Please feel free to contact me. It is important for me to know what concerns the people in my district have.
Best Regards,
